Application Process:

Use your NetID password to start the application process. Your application is not complete until we receive both the completed application AND a resume in .pdf format. Return to the website and update your information as needed using your NetID information.

Interview Process:

Interviews are conducted throughout each semester regardless of openings within the department. You will be contacted via email for a first interview provided you meet the GPA requirements for the position. When positions become available, applicants will be contacted a second time via email to arrange for a second interview.


A completed FAFSA or International Waiver (I-9) is required for employment. In compliance with WKU’s hiring policy, a state and national background check will be conducted. Undergraduate applicants must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA for consideration. Graduate applicants must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA for consideration.
Applicants must be a current student at WKU or registered to attend WKU the following semester. They must demonstrate job related computer experience or related education. Strong spoken and written English communication is preferred. Interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently are necessary. A desire and ability to work with people and help them with computer-related questions and problems is also needed. All newly hired student consultants must attend required training.

Job Description:

The Student Consultant’s primary duty is to provide a presence in assigned labs during scheduled hours for the security of the labs and their contents, and to maintain a study atmosphere in the lab, to monitor and report lab usage. Other duties include basic lab maintenance functions such as filling printers and general cleaning.
